SCU/MP 98 Palmetto - 2013 SC State Champions

It seems like just yesterday our boys were kicking around that #3 size ball on that 1/2 size 6 vs 6 field and now here we are heading into our last regular season spring games. Next year at U15 club, league play is only in the fall.

This weekend’s games will conclude the spring regular season and standing/seedings for State Cup will be determined based on all of the team’s (7) division games. Our 2nd game vs Discoveries 98 Black on Saturday will be the last of the (7) division games. Our games against Sumter and Summerville won’t count in the standings because we have already played them, just like this past Sunday’s game.

In case you have not been checking the league page, let me tell you – The 98 Palmettto Boys will be facing league and division leading 4-0-0 Summerville this Saturday at 8:30am at Summerville Soccer Complex. For comparisons we have 1 win, 2 ties and 1 loss against the same 4 opponents. Lets play hard and shock the Greenwave town on this Green weekend.

Uniforms will be WHITE
Please be dressed, there, and ready to warm up at 8:00am

Remember this is our last game until April 7th so lets leave it all out on the field.

LEAGUE GAMES RESUME THIS WEEKEND

98 Palmetto will be traveling to Sumter’s Patriot Park to play the Sumter 98 Voodoo and the Congaree Rapids 98 Sky

Game 1 is at 10:30am
Game 2 is at 3:00pm

Please arrive 45 minutes prior

To give you a little background, the Sumter Voodoo over the last 2 seasons has played in the classic division and the 2nd or lower bracket in tournaments and they have won like 85 out of their last 100 games or so, and probably have a dozen or medals and trophies, average score is like 6-0, we played them in November 2011 at the James Island Tournament and lost 0-1,
For comparisons they finished in the top of the league in the fall, the teams we played this past weekend were all at or near the bottom of the standings

Expect a hostile environment – these teams like and expect to win. Expect home cooking!!

I know I am probably one of the worst about being vocal in the wrong way but I am really going to try not to moan and groan over every bad call – now I will say shake it off – hopefully our boys won’t hear moaning and groaning from the sidelines and start moaning on the field like they did this past weekend.

Now the good news, I have heard from multiple sources around the town that the 98 Palmetto has had a great week of training and they are going to put some in the back of the net this weekend!!

Remember, no pressure, but we have to earn a trip to state cup, only the top 4 out of the 8 teams in our division go to State Cup, these games this weekend will be our 4th and 5th games out of 7 total that State Cup will be based on – in other words if we want to control our destiny, then we need to stop talking and start playing like that kid stole our last mountain dew and we want it back – the only thing our boys can control this Saturday is our attitude and effort!!

Coach Drew suggested we go with a change for the uniforms – please show up in WHITE WITH GREY WARMUPS, BRING BOTH JERSEYS

Coach Drew will have to coach is other team in the am but we will be at full strength on the bench for the 2nd game.
